Clos du Soleil Red, Similkameen Valley BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
An exceptional and elegant offering from one of BC's newest wineries. A Meritage blend (60/22/18) of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc it presents bright red fruit and leather, crushed flowers and herbs with cedarbox notes. It is very stylish on the palate, medium to full-bodied with a fine grained texture and plenty of juicy fruit. The production on the 2007 vintage is limited to 450 cases, so grab a couple when you see it! ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Clos du Soleil White, Similkameen Valley BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
One of British Columbia's newest offerings, Clos Du Soleil, is an impressive effort between ex-Canadian Navy officer Spencer Massie, Lawrence and Sharon Herder (Similkameen Valley's Herder Winery) and with next vintage the consulting expertise of winemaker Ann Sperling of Malivoire in Niagara. The "white" is a Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of Meyer lemon and creamy meringue, melon with a sprinkle of spice, caramel and marzipan. It's elegant and fresh on the palate with ample citrus peel and hints of toast with spice lingering on the finish. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Young & Wyse Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
This is a young and fresh Merlot from one of BC's newest producers. It is also a very fragrant version with appealing aromas of sweet raspberry and cherry, a hint of menthol, a whiff of crushed floral and vanilla with warm chocolate at the core. The palate supplies lots of berry flavours, it is bright and juicy in the mouth and continues along with vanilla and sweet spice flavours - oak char and cocoa linger across the finish. The finish is long with fine tannins. Very tasty. ©copyright 2010 Daenna Van Mulligen

Young & Wyse Shiraz, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
Stephen Wyse left his family winery Burrowing Owl to pursue the dream of his own artisan winery with his partner Michelle Young. This is the first release for Young & Wyse and they have launched with a simple white label and a black sheep (as Stephen refers to himself as). The Shiraz is very young and bright with aromas of red fruit and cranberry, wild herbs and hops with a hint of cedar. The palate is juicy with loads of acidity and layers of red fruit, dry earth and spice. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen
