Andretti Fume Blanc, North Coast California, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
Crisp red apple and lemony aromas, honey roasted nuts, minerals and toasty notes. Creamy on the palate with white fruit, sweet vanilla, oak spice and lemon cream. Fresh and a bit racy (like its namesake Andretti) across the finish line. Nicely done! ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen

Bodegas Montecillo Crianza, Rioja Spain, 2003
Readers rated this wine:
Crianza's spend less time in oak barrels and in bottles than their big sister Reserva, this one spent a minimum of one year. It achieves the classic rustic quality that we look for in Rioja showing cherry, dark floral earth, iodine and saddle leather notes. The palate has the lifted freshness of juicy red fruit followed by coffee, toasted oak and more leather finishing with fine, dusty tannins. Pair with Spanish cheeses or hearty meat sauces. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen

Bodegas Montecillo Crianza, Rioja Spain, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
Bodegas Montecillo is an old estate, which was established in 1874. This Tempranillo Crianza (meaning it has been aged at least one year in barrel followed by some bottle age) offers ripe cherries, vanilla, sweet spice and leather aromas. It is an approachable wine, fresh and smooth with cocoa, cherry and red berry flavours. It's a lighter-weight red, which will pair well with: Spanish cheeses, roasted meats, tomato pastas, lamb or spicy grilled chicken

Bodegas Montecillo Reserva, Rioja Spain, 2001
Readers rated this wine:
As required by Spanish DOC wine laws, to be considered a Reserva a wine from Rioja must have been aged a minimum of three years--one of those in oak barrel. The Montecillo Reserva shows classic Tempranillo characteristics of cherry, red berry and sweet tobacco aromas with hints of cocoa bean and band-aid. On the palate, the fine-grained, drying tannins persist throughout with more cherry and earthy flavours finishing with a solid grip. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen
