Allen Meadows, wine writer and
founder of Burghound, to Vancouver
on September 18th and 19th.
Tickets are available exclusively through Marquis Wine Cellars, and can
be ordered by calling 604-684-0445.
Information:
Allen Meadows is the founder of Burghound.com, the first of its kind
online review specializing in coverage of red and white Burgundy. His
depth of knowledge is truly astounding as it comes from traveling to
Burgundy four times a year and personally visiting and tasting with each
grower.
In this rare visit to Vancouver Allen will be hosting the events to
follow, and the public is to call Marquis Wine Cellars at 604-684-0445
to reserve.
Burgundy 101 Seminar and Tasting: September 18,
2-4pm, Terminal City Club, $99 per person
Allen guides a sit down tasting featuring classic examples of all the
major appellations of Burgundy, with a few hidden gems thrown in for
good measure. Allen will discuss appellations, producers and recent
trends, a great way to learn about Burgundy.
Terminal City Club Dinner: September 18,
6:30-10pm, Terminal City Club, $199 per person
Champagne reception to commence and hors d'ouevres. Guests will sit down
to a meal that will feature a fantastic selection of wines all paired to
a menu specially created by the Club's Chef, Jason Lloyd. As you sip and
eat your way through this rare gastronomic experience, Allen will share
his expertise about each wine. By the end of the meal you will know why
Chablis has such minerality, why wines from Vosne-Romanée have such rich
elegance and much, much more.
Bistro Pastis Lunch: September 19, 11:30-2pm,
Bistro Pastis, $99 per person
For those of you unable to join us for dinner on Saturday, why not start
your Sunday in a leisurely fashion by joining us for lunch at John
Blakely's Fourth Avenue fixture, Bistro Pastis? This meal will feature
some hidden jewels with a sprinkling of more recognizable names included
for good measure. As you happily eat and drink away, Allen will discuss
each wine and grower, while providing an overview of Burgundy.
