Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Pinot Gris, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
This fantastic Pinot Gris was fermented(65%) in stainless steel and the rest in new to three-year-old French oak for six months. It offers pretty pear and vibrant tropical citrus notes, creamed honey and white blossoms. A pristine palate offers more citrus, fine spice and mineral. There is just a kiss of sweetness cleaned up with bright acidity, a lovely weight and roundness and elegant finish. ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen

The White Gold is made in the Fort Berens Lillooet winery from Black Sage Bench Chardonnay grapes. It was matured in oak barrels for six months, 50% new. Sweet churned butter aromas morph into spiced pear compote and Meyer lemon with undertones of caramel, toasted oak and vanilla. Lovely weight and freshness on the palate with citrus, toasted spice, vanilla, star anise and creamed butter. Very good length and balance. Well done! ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen

Edna Valley Vineyard Chardonnay 'Paragon', San Luis Obisbo County California
Readers rated this wine:
New! Very solid, enjoyable style. Made from vineyards in San Luis Obispo (half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco), this tasty Chardonnay has it's foot firmly in the New World with butterscotch and pineapple chunks, vanilla, baking spices and zest of orange. It tastes like it smells - orange segments and pineapple, vanilla and spice lifted with a spritz of sweet citrus. It also has a rounded and creamy weight that will sing with fish in butter sauces, grilled chicken or pastas in cream sauces. ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Partially fermented in and aged in 2-4 year-old French barrels. Blue Mountain continues to make elegant wines from their Okanagan Falls estate and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. It hails from the first high-density vineyard of its kind in the Okanagan. Expect restraint in this wine, citrus peel, mineral and smoke, snap peas and grass clippings surrounded by tart white fruit. Lovely complexity and weight on a palate dominated by smoky/mineral tones. There's a hint of spice and lemon peel and nectarine flavours trail across the finish.
A focused wine with racy acidity.

Upper Bench Estate Winery Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
One of British Columbia's newest wineries (opening day was May 4, 2012), Upper Bench, located on seven acres of vineyard on the Naramata Bench, is also a creamery. That's a winning combination! The wine is golden in coulour with aromas of creme brulee, pineapple and pear slices layered with vanilla, coconut, clove and lemon. On the palate it leads with vanilla and coffee liqueur, burnt caramel and baking spice. It's not overly creamy and the fresh citrus notes on the tail end give the wine lift. If you like a little butterscotch in your Chardy, this one will do, nicely. Think smoked cheeses, sweet cornbread, chicken and pasta in cream sauces. ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen

There's Pinot Grigio, then there's Kris Pinot Grigio.
Its recognizable green hand label was designed by Italian artist Riccardo Schweizer (1925-2004). Expect creamy pears and honey, spring blossoms and pomelo citrus with mineral notes underscored with almond oil. It has a creamy weight and pristine character. Wonderful concentration in the mouth with flavours of pear, honey and marzipan layered with plenty of citrus. Lovely complexity and length. Best paired with a rustic antipasti platter or with simple Aglio e Olio (pasta with garlic, olive oil and chili flakes) or white meats. ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen
