Seafood/Shellfish Perfect Pairings
Seafood/Shellfish Sure Bets
Shellfish differs from fish as it is often sweeter. The cooking methods for shellfish help determine the wine but fresh and crisp is generally a good rule of thumb.

Therapy Sauvignon Blanc Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

Made from Sauvignon Blanc fruit from Oliver and the Naramata Bench, this aromatic white is less verdant than it's Kiwi counterparts. Aromas of guava and peach, gooseberry and sweet herbs with spring blossoms. The palate has a sweet, juiciness offset with an appealing tanginess and a clean, mouthwatering finish.
A wine for seafood, fresh green salads, and mildly spicy dishes.

Mistaken Identity 'Abbondante Bianco', Salt Spring Island BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

Here's another tasty vintage of this multi-varietal white blend.
It is a fragrant quaffer, which offers aromas of lychee, pink grapefruit, honey, exotic flowers, apricots and muscat undertones. The palate is tangy, a nice compliment to its agreeable sweetness. Flavours of stonefruit and lively citrus are highlighted with a hint of spice. It has a lovely roundness in the mouth and a long, crisp finish.
Pair with spicy dishes or traditional holiday ham or turkey.

Terravista Vineyards Fandango, Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

Terravista owners, Stella and Bob Tennant established Terravista Vineyards near Penticton after selling Black Hills several years ago. This is the first vintage of their Fandango (they only make one other wine, a blend of Viognier and Roussanne called Figaro), a blend of Albarino & Verdejo. It's a fresh and mineral focused wine that layers fresh herbs, lemon rind and faint apricot and apple aromas. The palate is snappy but restrained and the finish sticks around.
Here's a perfect wine to pair with oysters or mussels in an herbed white wine broth.

Carmen Reserva Viognier, Marchigue Chile, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

NEW!
Very nice value in a solid white with good Viognier aromas of lime, stone fruits and honeysuckle, mixed spice and ginger. On the palate you can expect caramel and ginger, plenty of citrus and oak spice flavours. It's not a blousy or super ripe style, rather it's leaner, with a dry tart finish.
Pair with roasted root vegetables, sweeter cuisine like Moroccan dishes, scallops or crab cakes.

Stoneboat Vineyards 'Chorus', Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

Stoneboat's well-loved proprietary blend called Chorus is a combination of Pinot Blanc, Muller Thurgau, Schoneburger, Kerner, Pinot Gris and Viognier.
It offers a fragrant fruitcup of green apples, peaches and pears, citrus blossoms, honey and white grapefruit. Typically pristine on the palate, this vintage stays true to form. It has fantastic balance and vibrancy, which highlights the juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavours.
A delicious wine to pair with spicier dishes such as chilled Asian noodles or coconut curry or fresh chevre and caramelized onion crostini, but just sipping on the patio is perfect too!

Neck of the Woods 'Back Yard Vineyards Nosy Neighbor White', British Columbia, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

This new, second label from Langley's, Neck of the Woods Winery offers fun wines with good value in each bottle. The fruit comes from Langley (in the Fraser Valley DVA) and the South Okanagan Valley. This white blends Pinot Gris, Riesling, Siegerrebe and Gewurztraminer, which together supplies notes of bright citrus, white orchard fruits such as green pear and young nectarine with mineral notes. The palate follows those same lines - it is tangy and dry with primary mineral and Pomelo citrus flavours. It's a straightforward white to serve alongside salads with vinaigrette dressings, steamed clams with garlic butter, curried pasta salads or spicy agadashi tofu.

Made from 100% Chardonnay from the Petit Chablis appellation of Burgundy, this chic white offers restrained mineral and citrus aromas with hints of apple, pear, toasted hazelnut and brioche. It is focused and very crisp in the mouth, it has good complexity with excellent mid-palate weight and a creamy texture. The finish is long and tangy.
