Seafood/Shellfish Perfect Pairings
Seafood/Shellfish Sure Bets
Shellfish differs from fish as it is often sweeter. The cooking methods for shellfish help determine the wine but fresh and crisp is generally a good rule of thumb.

Lake Breeze 'Seven Poplars' Sauvignon Blanc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
I'm seeing a serious increase in Sauvignon Blanc made in British Columbia. While not all are great, this one will impress you with its fragrant nose of guava, applesauce and passionfruit atop elderflower, honey and grass clippings. On the palate it literally pops guava and passionfruit. It has excellent weight and concentration from some barrel fermentation and citrus peel flavours trail on a tangy finish.

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Partially fermented in and aged in 2-4 year-old French barrels. Blue Mountain continues to make elegant wines from their Okanagan Falls estate and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. It hails from the first high-density vineyard of its kind in the Okanagan.
Expect restraint in this wine, citrus peel, mineral and smoke, snap peas and grass clippings surrounded by tart white fruit. Lovely complexity and weight on a palate dominated by smoky/mineral tones. There's a hint of spice and lemon peel and nectarine flavours trail across the finish.
A focused wine with racy acidity.

Tinhorn Creek Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:
A perfect example of where modern Chardonnay is going - fresh and clean, not bogged down in overly toasted oak and candy flavours.
The aromas here are lemony and lively with plenty of crisp white fruit and minerals. Pear, apple and fine, sweet spice flavours roll across the palate layered with Meyer lemon and underscored with buttery caramel. The finish is long and tangy.
Pair with grilled chicken, white fish or creamy soups or pastas.

Olivier Leflaive Cuvee Margot Bourgogne France
Readers rated this wine:

Pale ruby in colour with classic Pinot Noir character, the Cuvee Margot offers fragrant notes of sweet red cherry, raspberry and a potpourri of dried flowers and cedar chips atop herbs and forest floor. The palate is more restrained but still fresh and juicy. Flavours of fine spice, tart red fruit and cedar lead to a tangy finish.
It will serve you well now with dishes like salmon or mushroom wellington, or pop it in the cellar for a couple of years to let the palate mellow a bit.

Tenuta Maggiore 'Clelia' Malvasia, Lombardia Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Time to step out of the rut of your usual weekday Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc? Here's a good option, that is a lovely sipper or partner to antipasti or fish or soft cheeses.
The aromas here are yellow apples, fennel and honey with fragrant citrus and lavender. It has an oliy texture with a tart and zesty character. Citrus and almond oil flavours are layered with white fruits. A good everyday white with nice balance.
