Fresita by Casal de Gorchs, Strawberry Sparkling Wine, Chile, NV
Readers rated this wine:
This juicy, overtly scented sparkling wine is made with the addition of hand-picked strawberries, which lends it a gorgeous ruby colour and the fragrance of strawberries in syrup. It has a light frothy mousse and a sweet, fruity palate, making it suitable for brunch or as an afternoon sipper. Chill it down and pour on ice or use it to make sangria. Also a great option for berry tarts and brunch with strawberry waffles!

Tranchero Moscato d'Asti DOCG, Piedmont Italy, 2011
Readers rated this wine:
It's easy to gush over this fragrant wine with its delicate bubble. It is also an excellent version of Moscato with its pretty apricot and candied ginger aromas wrapped around white raisins, citrus peels soaking in honey and garden flowers. The palate offers ginger biscuits, lemon curd, stone fruits and honey flavours. A very enjoyable sweet sipper with a lengthy finish. A great dessert wine for fruit or apricot pastries, ginger spiked biscotti or a dried fruit and cheese plate.

Hungaria Grande Cuvee Brut, Budapest Hungary, NV
Readers rated this wine:
Although it's gone up a couple bucks in price since I first started tasting this wine, it's still a good value! It's not made in the traditional style (meaning the way the make sparkling in Champagne, France) but in a method called Methode Transvasee, which transfers it from bottle to tank and back again.
Made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rhine Riesling it is aged for over one year on it's lees to give it texture and character. Aromas of toasted pastries, lemons, spring blossoms and creamy white fruit. The palate follows suit with toast, leesy flavours and citrus peel, which clings on the finish. Good complexity for the price, medium-sized bubbles and plenty of bright acidity to balance the toastiness.
Recommended pairings: salmon tartare, Sushi, and fried seafood, salty snacks, creamy cheeses or eggs benny. ©copyright 2012 Daenna Van Mulligen

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Gold Label Brut, Okanagan Valley BC, NV
Readers rated this wine:
A lovely blend of Pinot Noir (61%), Chardonnay (36%) and a small amount of (3%) Pinot Gris grapes, which are all estate grown. This traditionally made sparkling offers aromas of roasted nuts, lemon peel, acacia and talc and crisp apple and pear notes. It's wonderfully lively in the mouth with a creamy texture and long, citrusy fnish. Great complexity, all in all, a very classy bubble.

Stoneboat Vineyards Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley BC, 2010
Readers rated this wine:
Grown on the rocky, calcium-rich benches of the Black Sage, south of Oliver, this fabulous Pinot Noir offers fragrant aromas of cherry and raspberry, sweet spices, cedarbox and violets with a core of rainforest floor, sage and white pepper. It's fresh and silky on the palate, it has an elegant, feminie character and plenty of juicy; high-toned red fruit underscored with leather and cedar flavours. The finish is clean and trails fine spice flavours.

Alamos Malbec, Mendoza Argentina, 2011
Readers rated this wine:
Do you really need any more proof of the popularity of Argentine Malbec? Certainly not from the Catena family, who have been Malbec pioneers in Mendoza for more than 110 years. It's a solid balance of sweet and savoury - aromas of blackberries and black cherries, vanilla liqueur, baking spice and lilacs are wound around savoury roasted and leathery notes. Roasted coffee flavours the entry and is followed with brown spice, supple black fruit, earth and finally dark roasted mocha flavours on the finish.
Recommended pairings: grilled meats and grilled vegetables and hearty pastas
