Alamos Malbec, Mendoza Argentina, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
From the fantastic Argentine producer Catena comes this Alamos label. The wine is indigo in colour with juicy purple berries, cocoa and smoky sweet spices, cedar chips and crushed dark floral notes. The palate is bold, plush and big-boned with supple fruit, plenty of peppery spice, espresso, dark chocolate and cedary flavours. Fine, slightly bitter tannins llinger. Very good. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Catena Malbec, Mendoza Argentina, 2005
Readers rated this wine:
Smoky dark fruits - black current and blueberry hints with cherry. Meaty/savoury undertones with chocolate, earth and herbal notes. Medium to full-bodied on the palate showing good depth, a smooth texture and great, ripe berry fruit flavours spiked with warm spices that linger with surprising intensity. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen Wine Diva reviewed - May 31st, 2008
Rich aromas--intense liqueur-like blackcurrant, smoke, minerals and dark earth.
Smooth, supple and spiced on the palate with juicy berry fruit flavours, coffee and oak with a luscious finish. It's liquid velvet, surpassed only by the unctuous Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino 2004 that will arrive in BC in March 2008. Its dense blackberry fruit, sweet spice, violets, vanilla, cassis and fleur de sel is velvet supreme. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen
