Hillside puts out a solid version of this often hard-to-love (and often underripe tasting) variety with aromas of bright red currents, wild herbs, vanilla and hints of crushed dark flowers. The same red fruits that appear on the nose are juicy on the palate jighlighted with a core of cigarbox and fine spice flavours. It is medium-bodied with tobacco and coffee bean flavours lingering on the finish. Hillside suggests pairing this wine with duck or venison, I think a red sauce would work nicely too.

The Hillside Estate Cabernet Franc is a wine that will pair with rich meat dishes or those with more tangy tomato-based sauces.
Aromas of juicy red fruit - cherries, red currents and fine spice with hints of green olives, dried herbs and cigarbox. It leans toward medium-bodied and has plenty of acidity (to balance those tangy tomato sauces), the palate echoes the juicy red fruit, cocoa and spicebox from the nose. Intergrated tannins and fine spice and tobacco flavours carry through on the finish.

The world would be a better place if there was more Gew.
I would drink this all summer, affectionately gazing at its copper-hued glints and sniffing the juicy lychee, honeysuckle, pomelo zest and grapefruity aromas. On the palate it is clean, and fresh with bright flavours of; turkish delight, lychee, exotic citrus and warm spice.

Perfectly patio or paired with fresh/spicy dishes the consistently tasty Hillside Gewurztraminer presents tropical fruits and an exotic blend of floral, citrus and sweet, warm spice aromas. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with nice fruit and acid balance and a slightly rounded texture.

Another lovely vintage for Hillside's Gew the 2008 shows rich honeyed aromas with mango and kaffir lime, grapefruit and plenty of exotic spice notes. It is expressive on the palate - very nice intensity and weight, the flavours echo the aromas - spiced honey, tropical fruit and citrus. The finish is slick and spicy.
