 La Stella

British Columbia
Osoyoos

La Stella Fortissimo, Okanagan Valley, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
This blend of 52% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc comes from La Stella's sustainably farmed vineyards in the South Okanagan.
Expect very ripe aromas of chocolate and blackberries, cherry and vanilla with hints of cranberry and espresso. Its a rich wine, weighted on the palate, brooding and smooth with flavours that echo its aromas of cherries and chocolate, cranberry and spice with hints of leather. Its a lengthy wine with a smooth texture and is a great pairing with aged cheeses.

La Stella Maestoso Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC 2006
Readers rated this wine:
La Stella is the sister winery to Le Vieux Pin. Le Vieux Pin is located in Oliver, La Stella is in Osoyoos. So, to compare Le Vieux Pin’s flagship Apogee to La Stella's Maestoso was quite intriguing, especially when they share their winemaker and the vineyard manager. The main difference is the vineyard sites.
The Maestoso is earthier, quite savoury on the nose with aromas of dried fruit, leather, dill, oregano and tomato paste with rich, almost stewed dark fruits. The palate is very impressive - lifted, bright concentrated fruit with lingering spice and fine tannins.

LaStella Leggiero Un~oaked Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
This unoaked Chardonnay is made from organically farmed grapes.
You can expect a lot of creamy, ripe notes of pear and spiced stone fruit and exotic floral notes with herbal hints and dried pineapple. There is a lot of complexity here - you might assume it is an oaked wine - with a creamy, smooth texture and flavours of pineapple and tropical citrus with a mineral edge. The finish is crisp, tart and citrus-y with lovely acidity.
Very good.
