A delicious everyday Cotes du Rhone (the wines from here offer very good value), that has plenty of sweet berry, cherry and floral aromas, leather and earth with a layer of herbs and sweet spices. The sweet fruit and floral aromas are echoed on the palate - it has lovely acidity and a firm, smooth texture - fine spicebox flavours linger on the finish.
This simple yet elegant red is made primarily of Grenache with a bit of Syrah

I love this wine for its value and freshness.
Primarily Grenache - which gives it its feminine, floral aspect - with juicy raspberry, blueberry, cherry and lilac aromas, sweet spices, saddle leather and fennel notes. It's smooth, medium-bodied and fresh with clean fruit, cocoa and minty flavours. The tannins are soft, it has lovely acidity and lingering cedarbox spices on the finish.

Does this dusty designer bottle trigger a distant memory? Time for a revisit?
La Fiole du Pape is always a blend of three vintages - one older vintage (I believe this one is 1999) and two newer vintages - producing a wine which combines maturity and youthful vigor. It's delicious - showing off it's aromas of sun-warmed berries, garrigue, smoke, leather, spice and tobacco. The flavours echo the aromas - a seductive combination of sweet and savoury with fully integrated tannins.
Pair with meat based casseroles or ratatouille.
