Sierra Cantabria 'Codice' Vino de la Tierra de Castilla La Mancha Spain, 2009
Readers rated this wine:
This approchable (and great value) red is made from Tempranillo grown on mountainside vineyards in south-central La Mancha. It launches with fragrant cherries and sweet berries and follows up with spice cake, mocha and licorice.
On the palate it leans more toward plummy/cherry flavours with cola spice, cracked pepper, licorice and vanilla. The finish lingers with fine cocoa tannins. Good concentration with well-balanced acidity to keep it fresh, which makes it a wonderful pairing with tomato based pastas or Spanish cheeses, but it will also partner with roasted meat dishes.

Sierra Cantabria Crianza, DO Rioja Spain, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
This Tempranillo was aged for 14 months in French and American oak barrels then bottled and left to age some more. It's a delicious wine, which is scented with cherry and strawberries, leather and sweet spices with a core of red plums and vanilla. The sweet berry and cherry flavours you get on the nose pop back onto the palate - it is juicy and very charming with coffee liqueur, smoked spices and earthy flavours.
A wine with an attractive rustic elegance, which will pair well with tomato based sauces, slow roasted meats and firm, grilled fish.
