'The Beach House' Sauvignon Blanc~Semillon, Western Cape South Africa, 2009
Readers rated this wine:
Very good value!
This fresh, light Sauvignon Blanc has peachy hints with citrus, sweet grass and a hint of vanilla on the nose. The palate has a slightly vivace tickle with nice crisp white fruit and citrus flavours. A simple sipper for the patio or pair with fresh shellfish and summer salads.

2 UP Shiraz, South Australia, 2005
Readers rated this wine:
From the winemaker of the wonderful Kangarilla Road wines comes 2 up a well-priced and sumptuous offering. Concentrated blackberry and sweet minty aromas, blueberries, chocolate and cola spices. Lush on the palate with ripe dark fruit, pepper, leather and warm spices with supple tannins.
2 up is a traditional game of chance - so I'll bet the farm you'll like what's in the bottle.
Pair with burgers, pizza and the like.

2nd Crossing Long Creek Red, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
Twisted Tree's second label is named for the winery's location, found at the second crossing of Long Creek and Highway 3 just east of Osoyoos. And like Long Creek, this wine will only flow in some years.
The aromas are dark and earthy - plums, black berries and dark chocolate with spice and hints of marzipan. The wine is smooth on the palate with sunbaked earth, black fruit, wild herbs and peppery spices. Very nice structure and balanced acidity with a firm finish.
Nice complexity - well done!

337 Cabernet Sauvignon, Lodi California, 2005
Readers rated this wine:
Like the Clay Station Viognier I recently reviewed the 337 is part of the Delicato Family Vineyards portfolio.
It's a ripe, muscular Cabernet with a brilliant garnet color oozing cassis and blackberries, dark earth and spiced chocolate. Solid new world Cabernet flavours, richly spiced with lush fruit, a hint of bell pepper and more chocolate on the finish.
Full-bodied and smooth and exceedingly easy to guzzle.

8th Generation Vineyards Pinot Gris, Okanagan BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
Vibrant!
Fresh aromas - juicy citrus, crisp pear/apple, mineral notes, honey and fruit blossoms. Surprising power, the balance is lovely - it's not Grigio style but not an over-the-top Pinot Gris either. The best way to describe it is intriguing and pristine - smacking acidity with layers of citrus, honeycomb, mountain stream minerality, a hint of almond, anise and a suggestion of green herbs on the finish.
A screw-cap topper makes it perfect for picnics.

8th Generation Vineyards Pinot Rose, Okanagan BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
The name 8th Generation refers to the eight generations of Schales family who have dedicated their lives to winemaking - starting in Germany in 1783 and now continuing in Summerland. One of the Okanagan's newest wineries 8th Generation is showing promise.
The Rose is made from 100% Pinot Meunier and is a very pale salmon hue. Aromas of sweet berries, peach skin, orange peel and earthy undertones. On the palate it's refreshing and crisp - pleasantly off-dry with fresh berries, tobacco and lingering cedar and spices on the finish. Snappy acidity with a strong backbone that makes it good for sipping solo or alfresco meals.

The Riesling reminds me of the dry Rieslings being made (and consumed) in Germany right now. Loads of green apple and mineral aromas, citrus peel, honey and peach skin notes. Zippy and fresh on the palate with spritzy lemon, lime zest and ripe white fruit flavours - lip-smacking good.

A Mano "Bianco", Puglia Italy, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
From one of my favorite Primitivo producers A Mano comes this newly released white, a screw-topped 50/50 blend of the indigenous varietals Fiano and Greco di Tufo.
A rich straw colour with gold glints the Bianco reminds me of my favorite lemon/lime Calippo ice-pops showing lime and sweet lemon, stone mineral and honeysuckle aromas. On the palate it's crisp on the entry with citrus zest then smooths out mid-palate with sweet herbal flavours and has a refreshing finish with lingering lemon-pepper.
Intriguing!

Accordini Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico DOC, Veneto Italy, 2004
Readers rated this wine:
A succulent Amarone, the Accordini is thick with aromas - cherry and dried fruit, molten chocolate and sweet spice with roasted hazelnut, toffee, a hint of banana and a dense, earthy core. Expect loads of spice, cocoa and rich berry flavours, it is full on the palate with nice acidity to brighten it up. It is dark and decadent - savoury flavours of herbs, roasted espresso beans and smoked, meaty tones hang on the finish. Nice depth, a pleasing chewiness with supple tannins on the finish.
Pair it with rich meat dishes or with hard aged cheeses, after the meal.
